Opening messages online dating
I spoke to a few friends about their experiences with online dating websites.
One friend brought up a message where a man had told her that because she was a ‘woman of size’, she ‘must suck good ****’. Others in the past have conducted similar experiments, setting up fake accounts on free dating websites and recording the messages they received.
Lots of different types of sites began to appear, some very casual-oriented, some slightly more serious. The latest chapter in our story has been our association with WLD, a company who have built a fantastic dating platform, enabling us to keep up with all the features you want and need in a dating site.
We're proud that we've been online since 2002 and we have no intention of going anywhere soon!
It’s no surprise that I received nearly twice as many messages on Plenty of Fish than Ok Cupid and Casual Kiss combined.
In total, I received 34 messages, all of which were very nice.
We proved that there is space for all kinds of sites - from the one-shot cruising sites through to sites that echoed a high-street dating agency style.
In fact, it’s not uncommon at all for women to be threatened for refusing to send nudes or insulted when they say they’re not interested in the man messaging them.
Thanks for landing on our site, because we really think you'll enjoy Gay Dating - one of the top UK gay dating sites.
As our name rather obviously suggests we're all about one thing - finding you the perfect man.
Back then the scene was dominated by just one or two small sites who had a kind of friendly rivalry going. We brought a different attitude to gay dating - which was not just about hookups but was more focussed on real, lasting relationships.
Nobody had tried anything like that before and nobody even knew if there was a viable market for it.
However, Ok Cupid has many not-so-great users as well, and it’s not uncommon for women to have the misfortune of encountering them, and in the past, I have as well.
